なぜ、英語を載せているのか。
動物を守りたいと思ったとき、
それは日本だけの話ではないと気づいた。
世界には、約七千の言語があるという。
ここでは、共通言語として英語を選んだ。
届くかどうかは、わからない。
それでも、
誰かが何とかしてくれるのを待つのではなく、
一人の人として、声を置いてみたいと思った。
写真も、言葉も、
すぐに世界を変えるものではない。
けれど、
もしどこかで誰かが立ち止まり、
一枚の写真の前で、
少しだけ長く息をしたなら。
それだけで、 十分かもしれない。
Why do I include English here?
When I began to think about protecting animals,
I realized it was not only a matter for Japan.
There are said to be
about seven thousand languages in the world.
Here, I chose English
as a shared language.
I do not know
whether these words will reach anyone.
Still,
instead of waiting for someone else to fix things,
I wanted to place my voice here
as one person.
Photographs and words
do not change the world overnight.
And yet,
if somewhere, someone were to pause,
and breathe a little longer
in front of a single image—
that might be
enough.
